Like other parts of the country, UAF also took out a rally from Clock Tower to express solidarity with the people of Indian Held Kashmir. The walk was led by UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa.
The exhibition, which was arranged by Office of Senior Tutor, is inaugurated by Vice Chancellor. The expo is shedding light on pre-Islamic era and Islamic era, Pakistan Movement, Kashmiris struggle for their right of self-determination, and pre and post partition situation of the subcontinent with highlighting the role of Pakistani women in the prosperity of country.
The day dawned with special prayers for the martyrs and success of the freedom movement at the Central Mosque. Different events including exhibition, mili nagmas, walks, movie on Kashmir Day, poster exhibitions, debating contests, dramas and cultural performance, and many more are being arranged in this regard.
Talking to the participants, Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa said that India is used to repressive state apparatus in Indian Held Kashmiri to suppress the voice of Kashmiris of their right of self-determination. He said that the day renewed pledge to seek a solution to the longstanding dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He said that the country was achieved after the great sacrifices. Now it is our duty to work to stop the cruelty in the Indian held Kashmir. He said that there was a time when the Muslims were ruling the world due to following in the golden principles of Islam.
He said that before the Islamic era, peoples were living in the dark ages. It is Islam which brought the people from the darkness to the light of Hidayad and gives then pathway by guiding in all sphere of the life. He showed his concern that today youngsters had forgotten the rich history of Muslims who set the ideal system and bring the prosperity. But with the passage of time, the Muslims started leaving their principles which was main reason behind their deterioration. He said in the subcontinent, Sufi saints had played a pivotal role to reunite the peoples and think about their actual of their lives.
As per details, on Feb 5, Qirat and Naat competitions, poster contest, and Kashmir Day walk were organized. On Feb 6, Mili Nagma, drama and cultural performance, and poster exhibition will be held and the same will continue till Feb 14. The programmes will shed light on the sacrifices of Kashmiri youth for the right of self-determination as per resolutions of the UN. On fifth of February, the day will dawn with special prayers in mosque as people prayed for the progress of Pakistan and eternal peace for the souls of the martyrs of Kashmir struggle. The university invites the citizens, students, media persons, members of civil society, members of parliament and heads of all educational institutions to witness the activities.
