Institute of Agricultural and Resource Economics - Overview

Institute of Agricultural and Resource Economics was established in mid-2012 by merging three departments i.e. Department of Agricultural Economics, Development Economics and Environmental and Resource Economics. The new set up was a result of the visionary thinking of the Vice Chancellor and the recommendations of the Accreditation Committee of the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan. Currently, the Institute is offering one undergraduate and five post graduate degree programs i.e. B.Sc. (Hons) Agricultural and Resource Economics, M.Sc. Economics, M. Phil Economics, M.Sc. (Hons) Agricultural Economic, M.Sc. (Hons.) Development Economics, M.Sc. (Hons.) Environmental and Resource Economics. Furthermore, the Institute is also offering PhDs in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Development Economics and Environmental and Resource Economics. Prior to the creation of the Institute, its component departments were actively engaged in undertaking research projects funded by national and international organizations including, HEC, GoP, ADB, the World Bank, ILRI, JICA, IFPRI, USAID, etc. During the last decade, more than 22 PhDs and 2000 M.Sc. (Hons) were produced who are serving in various national and international institutes of repute including UAF, APCom, PARC, IWMI, GoP departments / ministries, NGOs, ACIAR, etc.
