The MoU was inked by UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa and PTC Business Development Manager Javed Khan . It was also agreed upon for the training of technical staff and facilitation in the demonstration of technology to the farmers in Pakistan. UAF also agrees to facilitate PTC in providing high tech facility for the tobacco seed pelleting and all other facilities necessary for the purposes. The PTC will also arrange the internship opportunities for UAF students in tobacco seed industry. In the collaborations, Dr Irfan Afzal will act as the focal persons from UAF and Zaheer Iqbal Leaf Agronomy Manager from PTC. Director External Linkages Dr Rasheed Ahmad, Dr Shahzad Basra, Dr Khurran Zia, and other notable also attended the meeting.
UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa has said that physical and sports activities are prerequisite for good health and such activities must be promoted among the people. He addressed the concluding session of Inter Hostel Sports Gala Women arranged by Hall Warden Office. He said that the University is introducing two credit hours sports course as minor in the degree programs aimed at promoting sports activities. He said that in past decades, playgrounds were full of players. But, it is also a matter of grave concern that grounds present deserted look.
He said that sports were equally important not only for keeping oneself physical fit but also for a healthy mind. He said that if a person is not physical fit, how can be good in studies as well. He said that UAF was making all out efforts to promote sport actives in the students. He added that the stat-of-the-art sports facilities were being provided to the students. He said that there is a need to develop the sportsman spirit among the youth to cope with different challenges in the life.
Chief Hall Warden Dr Amjad Aulak said that there is need to sensitize the society about the importance of exercise and sports for a healthy nation. He said there are 26 hostels and we are used to arrange different sports and other competitions to flourish healthy activities. He said that 26,000 students lived in the hostels. As per results, Badminton Fatima-tu-Zahra hostel got the first position while Afzal Hall stood second and Kahkashah Hall third. In Table Tennis, Fatima-tu-Zahra got the first while Afzal Hall stood second and Afzal Hall third. In Basket Ball, Afzal Hall got the first while Fatima-tu-Zahra got the second position.
