They addressed an inaugural session of second international conference of bio-chemistry, bio technology and bio-materials themed biochemistry for better health and environment in the developed world at Iqbal Auditorium, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. The session was chaired by UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa while PMAS Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi former Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mehmood, Islamia University of Bahawalpur former Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Mukhtar, Faculty of Sciences UAF Dean Dr Asghar Bajwa, Chairman Bio Chemistry Dept UAF Prof Dr Khalil-ur-Rehman, Prof Dr Amir Jamil and other notables also spoke on the occasion.
Dr Zafar Iqbal urged young scientists to come up with innovative ideas to fight the challenges. He said out of 900 noble prizes winners of the world, most of them have linked with biochemistry. He said that we have to produce and promote bio materials which are environment friendly. We have a long way to achieve goals of health, nutrition and environment security and avert future challenges,” he added. He said that with the passage of time, new diseases are broken out for which scientists had to enhance their efforts. He added that bio chemistry begins with the seeding till the completion of the process of becoming edible Prof Dr Khalid Mehmood Khan stressed the need to strengthen ties between the scientists and industry by saying “the collaborative and trust building are essential for the development that must be cemented”.
Dean Faculty of Sciences Dr Asghar Bajwa said they are kicking off BS program in the said discipline. He said that today half of the campus is engaged in some form of biochemistry as it is a core discipline. He also stressed upon the need to learn the modern tools and techniques to compete with the rest of the world. Prof Dr Khalil Ur Rehman said biochemistry is a demand driven discipline. If we look at number of application submitted for admission, he said these are progressively growing . He said that the conference will set the path for chemistry and bio chemistry scientists for enhanced role in the safer enlivenment and food security . Prof Dr Amir Jamil said that the conference was aimed to bringing together the scientists and researchers on a platform where they can provide solutions for the safer environment and better nutrient food.
