The youth must be educated about the poetry and message of saints sufi poets of the Punjab. He chaired an event titled literary sitting with renowned poet Rehana Qamar at the New Senate Hall, UAF. He added that Punjab, the land of five rivers, has unique and astonishing history of having great spiritual poets, including Shah Hussain, Sultan Bahu, Bulleh Shah, Waris Shah, Baba Farid Ganj-e-Shakar, Mian Mohammad Bakhsh, Khawaja Ghulam Farid, Shah Murad, and Pir Mehr Ali Shah. It is a unique place on the earth. Many Sufi Saints spread their purified spiritual views in poetry. He termed it a great honour for Punjabi language for having such blessed souls. He lamented that unluckily, we could not develop society based on such values that were propagated by Sufi saint. He said that the university was taking all possible measures to prmote the culture of reading and understanding the message of the sufi poets.
Renowned Poetess Rehana Qamar said that poetry is blessing under which we can effectively communicate the message in a beautiful manners. She said that the poetry works as to blossom thought process about different issues and to shed light on the various aspects of the life in a gorgeous way. She said that the country was blessed the tremendous talents so that it is prerequisite to provide a platform to the students to sharpen their literary skills. Dr Shahzad Basra termed the Sufis as scholars who preached love of God, of His prophets and of humanity. He said that we have to transfer sufis narrative and thoughts to new generation to counter intolerance and ensure love, peace and harmony in the society. Deputy Registrar Public Relations and Publication UAF Syed Qamar-ud-Din Bukhari said that there is a need to promote the literature among the students as in modern era, the students are more inclined to non-eastern lifestyle etc. He lauded the contribution of Rehana in the literature.
