It is a matter of grave concern that pharmaceutical industry research in natural products has declined in a decade, causing different challenges.
It was stated by experts at the inaugural session of workshop bioassays for exploration of bioactive arranged by Department of Biochemistry, University of Agriculture Faisalabad at Science Block. The session was chaired by Faculty of Sciences Dean Dr Muhammad Asghar,while Chairman Department of Biochemistry Dr Khalil Ur Rehman, Dr Muhammad Shahid, Dr Amir Jamil and others also attended the session. Addressing on the occasion, Dr Muhammad Asghar Bajwa said that it was the need of hour to train youths with powerful cutting-edge techniques that would enable them tackling recent challenges in research. He said that new diseases were breaking out due to climate changes and other issues. For which, there is prerequisites to take tangible measures and conduct valuable researches. He urged the scientists to work on different plants to identify their potential against the different diseases. Dr Khalil Ur Rehman said that Biochemistry Department since 2015 has produced 886 MSc, 444 MPhil, and 86 PhDs. He said that the faculty had received four Research Productivity Awards. He said that close academia-industry linkage would help address the issues at the national level. He said that the country was blessed with talent. There is a need to explore the potential. He said that such activities would provide of platform to the find out the solutions to the the problems of research.
