The University of Agriculture Faisalabad is providing all resources to the Directorate of Farm to promote the modern trends in the agriculture sector and to uplift the sector, said UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan.
He was addressing the ceremony of handing over tractor to the students at Directorate of Farm, University of Agriculture Faisalabad. He said it is need of the hour to promote the modern trends in the agriculture in order to compete with the rest of the world. He said driving training will be made mandatory for under graduate level students of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad. He urged the students to get the practical experience of the agriculture in order to face up the challenges of the practical life. He said that the agriculture sector was directly linked to the poverty alleviation as most of the population was associated with the sector. He said that the country was having the tremendous resources. There is a need to tap the potential. He showed his concern that the productivity of the major crops have been facing the stagnation. He said that the population was increasing whereas the agricultural land was diminishing. He said that we have to promote the latest trends in the agriculture in order to boost up the production. He directed the Director Farm Dr Farooq Ahmad to take all possible measures for providing the facilities to the farmers in Kissan Festival commencing from March 7. He said that educated and trained manpower is the guarantee of bright future. There is a need to refurbish the God-given abilities of the youth in order to make the development and prosperity. He said that University was making all-out efforts for addressing the issues of the farming community, stakeholders, civil society and the campus community.
