Qingdao Agricultural University, China and the University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Tuesday inked a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate in academic and research.
The MoU was duly signed by Qingdao Agricultural University Vice President Yuan Yongbing and UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan at the syndicate room, UAF. It was agreed upon that both parties will exchange and cooperate in the areas of education, agriculture, culture, scientific research, technological promotion and commercialization. They will conduct mutual learning, exchanges, and cooperation in the above fields meant for promoting regional economic and social development, strengthening friendships between the peoples of two countries. Both parties will actively explore feasible programs. The both universities will also jointly work on the application for scientific research projects at national and international levels; exchange of faculty members and students; joint language training program; joint bachelor’s degree and master degree programs and other areas of common interests. Yuan Yongbing said both countries were enjoying deep-rooted and time-tested relations based on brotherhood. He said that these MoU will open up new avenue of educational, agriculture and research cooperation. He said that they had developed the wheat variety which is effective in salinity. He said that his University was established in 1951 and offer 77 bachelor and 78 graduate programmes. He also discussed the possibility of collaboration in poultry and livestock vaccination. Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said Chinese universities were proving their mettle globally in every filed. He said that UAF believes in knowledge diversification and 20 UAF faculty members had completed their PhDs from China and several are perusing their degrees there. He added the country will witness an economic turnaround that would help ensure sustainable development due to CPEC. He said that Confucius Institute had been established at the UAF. It is offering Chinese language and cooking courses. It is a step towards bringing the people of both countries further closer.
