Strong academia-industry linkages, knowledge based economy and innovative thinking are imperative to address the issues of industry, common man, farmers and other stakeholders that will help alleviate the poverty from the country.
This was stated by University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan. He addressed a workshop on food safety internship and supplier development program at the National Institute of Food Science Technology (NIFSAT), University of Agriculture Faisalabad in collaboration with Pepsico. The Vice Chancellor said the country was blessed with the talented youth. By sharpening the skills of students with practical knowledge, we can compete with the rest of the world. He also called for adopting food safety measures to overcome the food hazards and ensuring safe health for the public. He said that establishment of Punjab Food Authority was a hallmark step which is bringing tangible result regarding providing safe and hygienic food for the people. Dean, Faculty of Food, Nutrition and Food Sciences Prof. Dr. Masood Sadiq Butt said that quality education and skilled manpower were the essential to make the development. He said if we ensure healthy food and lifestyle, the issue of increasing ailment and malnutrition can be addressed effectively. Director General NIFSAT Dr Tahir Zahoor said that the academia-industry linkages would bring the tangible results to address the various problem. Pepsico official Izhar Awan also spoke on the occasion. They also distributed the certificates of internship among the 60 students from six universities.
