Speakers on Tuesday called for promoting the teaching of Bulleh Shah and other sufic saint based on loving humanity, strengthening the relations with Allah Subhanhotallah and ending prejudice from the society that will move the country towards development and prosperity.
They addressed a seminar on Bulleh Shah arranged by Department of Humanity and Linguistics, University of Agriculture Faisalabad at New Senate Hall. Addressing on the occasion, Sufi and Punjabi poets have played a pivotal role in spreading the message of peace and tolerance. Even today, their poetry can unite all conflicting segments of society. Punjab Institute of Language Arts and Culture Director General Sughra Sadaf said that Shah propagated the message of peace and defiance of the orthodoxy. She said that the poet taught people to establish a relationship with God. She said that youth must be enlightened with message of saint sufi to get the right path and face the challenges in life. She showed her concern that Punjabi was the tenth largest language in the world. But in our educational system, the language is being discouraged. She suggested introducing the Punjabi as compulsory course in the province in the curriculum. Khoj Garh Head Iqbal Qaiser said that the attributes like power, wealth, religion, beauty, and young age create proudness in the personality. He said that the poet’s teaching guides us to become humble and down to earth. Dean Faculty of Agriculture Dr Muhammad Amjad said that the poetry of Bulleh Shah was a part of our golden heritage. He highlighted Bulleh Shah's call for tolerance in the society and respect for other peoples. He said Bulleh Shah was the most relevant today as he represented the tolerance and brotherhood. Linguistic Department Chairman Dr Naveed Irshad said that the university was making all out efforts to promote the teaching of sufi saint in the youth. He said that the tangible researches on the saint will bring the more aspect of the his poetry before the people.
