The University of Agriculture Faisalabad has established a state-of-the-art new Biology block, Faculty of Sciences costing Rs 120 million for providing modern facilities keeping in view the demand of increasing enrollment.
The block was inaugurated by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan who was flanked by Dean Sciences Prof Dr Muhammad Javed, Treasurer Umar Saeed, Dean Food Sciences Dr Masood Sadiq Butt, Dean Agri Engineering Dr Allah Baksh, Progressive farmer Afaq Tiwana, Dean Animal Husbandry Dr Sajjad, Dean Social Sciences Dr Iqbal Zafar, Director Research Dr Aslam Mirza and other notables. The block situated on 42,000 square foot has the capacity of 4000 students at a time. The block, constructed from UAF own recourses, comprises six laboratories, one lecture theatre, one conference hall and almost 20 classrooms. Dean office is also present there. Inaugurating the new block Vice Chancellor UAF Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that the University is making all-out efforts to provide the modern facilities to the students. He said that the enrollment of students is increasing due to which UAF is coming up with new initiatives including new buildings, sports facilities and laboratories. With the funding of Punjab Government the country largest hostel for 1000 girls is near to completion. He said by the end of this year three more blocks will be completed. He said that we have set up working women hostel, Day Care Center, five hostels at Postgraduate Agriculture Research Station and many others. He also said UAF has revamped academic, research and outreach programs and has introduced as many as 42 new Degree Programs in the recent years in order to produce demand-driven manpower. Dean Sciences Prof Dr Muhammad Javed said that Botany and Zoology departments are shifted to the new Biology block.
