The University of Agriculture Faisalabad in collaboration with the University of California (UC) Davis, USA, is kicking off two new postgraduate degree programmes including MSc (Hons) Climate Changes and MSc (Hons) Seed Science and Technology.
The programs are initiated by US Pakistan Center for Advances Studies Agriculture and Food Security (USPCAS) – University of Agriculture Faisalabad. The USPCAS Bio technology Chair and Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics are launching the seed science and technology program. Whereas, Climate Changes programme is being kicked off by Department of Agronomy and USPCAS Climate Changes Chair. The initiatives are taken to meet the emerging challenges facing the agriculture sector that will help ensure the food security in the country. UC Davis USA subject specialist Dr Thomas Rost has said that graduate of this MSc Climate Changes will become the first generation of the climate changes professional in Pakistan. UC Davis specialist Dr Jim Hill has hoped that nothing could be more important for Pakistan agriculture than the high quality seed and the program would prepare the manpower to address the issue.
