UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan administrated the oath. Dr Muhammad Riaz from Institute of Animal and Dairy Sciences has been elected as the President ASA while Dr Sidra Altaf from Main Campus, Dr Riaz Mustafa from Toba Tek Singh sub-campus, Dr Tauseef Asghar from Burewala Subcampus, and Dr Shoaib ur Rehman from Depalpur Campus were elected as Vice Presidents. Dr Khalid Bashir from Directorate of Graduate Studies has become the secretary, Dr Sultan Ali as Finance Secretary, and Dr Sahar Munir as Joint Secretary. The elected councilors include Dr Ahsan Akram, Dr Muhammad Tayyib, Dr Naveed Farah, Usman Ashraf, Usman Ijaz, Rabia Munir, Dr Muhammad Yousaf, Dr Fawwad Ahmad, Dr Aamir Aslam , Dr Rizwan Aslam, Adeela Manzoor, Qurat-ul-Ain, Husnain Arshad, Dr Shahbaz Nasir Khan, Dr Rizwan Shafique, Dr Tauhid Iqbal, Muhammad Aoun, Umair Mahmood, Dr Yahya Khan, and Dr Muhammad Ahsan. Addressing the participants, UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that the university was making all possible steps to improve the quality of education and research and to address the problems of the campus and farming community. He said that 70 more teachers were being made part of the teaching staff from the selection board this month in order to improve the student-teacher ratio in the university. It will help ensure quality education and prepare the manpower with the modern education. He said that in the last two weeks, the scientists of the UAF had secured competitive research grants meant to solve various agriculture problems on scientific basis. He said that a plan was mapped out for the renovation of the staff club to equip the faculty with modern facilities. He lamented that the country was importing agricultural goods worth Rs. 10 billion. The agricultural scientists and experts have to play their role to overcome the crisis. He said that recently, 20 selection boards are conducted while four more will be held in the current month. He urged the faculty to hunt the competitive research grants. He said that section boards for the professors would also be held soon. On the occasion, the newly elected President of ASA, Dr. Muhammad Riaz said that they would making concrete efforts to improve the quality of education and research work. He said that the scientists of UAF should turn all stones to tackle the challenges facing the agricultural sector. Former President ASA, Dr. Isa Khan, Dr. Khalid Bashir and Dr. Anjum Zia also spoke.
