French Embassy Attaché Scientific and Academic Cooperation Alban Schewerer on Thursday said that academic and scientific ties between the both nations were being further strengthened to get benefit from each other experience . He was addressing the students on Study in France at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad . The session was arranged by French Culture Centre, UAF.
He said that around 299,000 international students are studying in France, making up 12 percent of total post secondary enrollment. France remains the third most popular destination from international mobile students after the US and UK. He said that they are offering the subsidized post secondary porgramme and sophisticated research enterprise French Government is spending 10,000 to 14,000 euro a year per student on postsecondary. He said that as a matter of public policy, international students are treated the same as French students. He said all students enjoy the same benefits including health insurance, housing assistance, discounts for transportation, amusements. He said that 484 students from Pakistan were studying in France.
Director Alliance Francaise Stephen Gaillard said that all out efforts were being made to bring the both nations more closer with cultural exchange programme. He said that French language course at the UAF will help to bring the people closer. Dean Faculty of Food and Home Sciences Dr Masood Sadiq Butt said that malnutrition was hitting nearly half of the population of the country. He said that his faculty has introduced ever-first BSc Human Nutrition and Dietetics in order to develop the manpower skilled in the said area. He said that French Culture Centre had been established at the UAF and three batches of French courses has completed. Director External Linkages Prof Dr Muhammad Ashafaq said that the UAF was enjoying relations with the educational and research institutions worldwide . He said that many members of our faculty had obtained degree from France. Dr Aamir Shahzad said as many around 50 students had completed French language course in order to get admission in France. Dr Amna also spoke on the occasion.
