He addressed an event organized in connection with Christmas and New Year in solidarity with the Christian community at Shahbaz Town Church by the university administration, faculty and staff.
He said that the university had established a Church whereas tangible steps were afoot for providing the due rights to the minorities. He said that the UAF was mulling a plan to create a mechanism of minorities quota in admissions also. He said that 300 employees of the university have been promoted in the recent past.
Bishop Dr. Andreas Rehmat thanked the Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asif Tanveer, Registrar Umar Saeed, Principal Officer State Management Dr. Qamar Bilal, Principal Officer Public Relations Prof. Dr. Muhammad Jalal Arif and other distinguished guests and said that the Christian community is increasingly participating in the development of the country. Bishop Dr. Andreas Rahmat said that Hazrat Essa PBUH promoted the peace, love and humanity. He added that since the establishment of the church at the university, employees and their families have been performing their religious rights and worships with complete freedom.
Addressing the gathering, Registrar Umar Saeed said that the university administration always pays attention to the problems of Christian employees on priority basis and celebrations are organized every year to participate in their happiness. A 60-pound cake was also cut by the university administration on the occasion. Father Pervez Gulzar offered special prayers for the development of the country along with national security and prosperity. The ceremony was attended by members of the Church Committee Riaz Masih, Siraj Masih and other notables.
