He addressed Academic Council meeting at New Senate Hall. The meeting also approved the nomination of Principal Estate Management Dr Qamar Bilal and Dr Farzana Rizvi as the members of Discipline Committee. Registrar Tariq Saeed presented the agenda of the meeting. Dr Muhammad Ashraf said that difficult access to quality seed for farmers was causing a serious damage to sector and it was a putting a hindrance to tap potential from our fertile land. He was of the view that the university had chalked put a comprehensive to work on seed development that will not only increase our productivity but also help alleviate the poverty.
He added that as far as per-acre agricultural productivity and agro practices were concerned, we need to go far way to compete with the developed nations. Quoiting the example of Singapore, he said that Singapore was having the few agriculture land but it was meeting agricultural demand by growing agricultural produces at the roof and in the buildings etc. Talking about other issues, he said that University will establish scientific and professional skills development cell in which more demand driven skill relating short courses will be kicked off. He added that it will help produce the skilled manpower with the enabling abilities to fight the odds in life. He lauded the steps of the government for the launching of "Kamyab Jawan" and termed it as astonishing step to integrate young voices, perspective, aspiration and gainful opportunities into national development policies and processes. He urged the researchers to conduct demand-driven research work that was an integral part to face up the issues and problems of the society.
