University of Agriculture Faisalabad Spring Festival is at its full swing and attracting tends of hundreds of locals. On Wednesday, Vice Chancellor Sokoto State University Nigeria Prof Nahu O Yaqub, along with UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan inaugurated the Agri Exhibition at Expo Center.
The festival which will continue till March 10, brings various colorful events including tent pegging, greyhounds race , milk competition, book fair, agricultural exhibition, fancy birds show, nutrition mela, kissan convention, food street etc. The festival is meant for enhancing the interaction and networking among the farming community, researches and industry. Sokoto State University Nigeria Vice Chancellor Nahu O Yaqub called for developing the academia and research ties between both institutions. He said that ties would help get benefit from each other experiences. He also sought the help of UAF in the area of agriculture.
UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that the relations between the both varsities will help to learn from other. He said that the agriculture was the back bone of our country and contributing 21 percent to the Gross Domestic Product. He said that the agricultural exhibition and competition would help increase the productivity. He said that in the agriculture, half of the share goes to livestock sector.
