Department of Public Relations and Publications - UAF VC Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan presents University mementos to visiting US Prof. Dr. Neil Forsberg in his chamber - July 01, 2010

Universities are playing vital role in civilizing and up brining the nations by creating new knowledge and disseminating the same through new innovations and equipping the youth with entrepreneurial skills. Said Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan Vice Chancellor, University of Agriculture Faisalabad while addressing the participants of a special lecture of Prof. Dr. Neil Forsberg who set an example of transforming an idea of producing germs resistant medicine for cows, buffalos, goat and sheep into an asset here in New Senate Hall.

Dr. Iqrar A. Khan urged the UAF scientists to jell up their energies and sell their ideas internationally as financial constraints posed by a major cut in HEC budget by federal government forced the universities to tightened the belts and be prudent in financial management. Dr. Iqrar revealed that Nestle has set up more than 500 factories around the world and university scientists and scholars are the major players in producing and introducing new products. He asked the UAF scientists to come forward with such ideas supported with entrepreneurial skills aiming to flourish new businesses in the country.

Earlier addressing the gathering, a US Prof. Dr. Neil Forsberg told that during his 27 years university service of teaching, he along with his student succeeded to introduce a medicine "OmniGen" having enormous resistance against germs of animals. He revealed that 2-3% cows used to die due to Hemorrhagic Bowel Syndrome (HBS) and the medicine reduced the incidence around the United States, hence the medicine showed significant results in other parts of the globe not on cows but also on buffalos, camels, sheep and goats.

Executive Director Endowment Fund Secretariat Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal Randhawa conducted the program. Later the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iqrar A. Khan presented University mementos and paintings to guest speaker.
