In a bid to commemorate the services of late professors of UAF and to pay homage to the departed souls of Prof. Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Khan, Prof. Dr Abdul Rehman Tahir, Dr. Rahmatullah, Dr. Muhammad Siddique, Ex-Treasurer Muhammad Arshad Chaudhry, and Dr. Ghulam Subhani Khan whose happened to lose their lives in January 2010, a condolence reference organized by ASA was held at Iqbal Auditorium with Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan in the chair on Monday morning.
Addressing the participants of the condolence reference, Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan termed their deaths irreparable lose to him and UAF in general and to their families in particular. Remembering his relations with Muhammad Arshad Chaudhry, Dr. Iqrar A Khan revealed that late Muhammad Arshad Chaudhry helped him in vetting his application to contest for the UAF Vice Chancellors slot and always extended fullest support to each and everyone who so ever visited him for his guidance. He told that late Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Khan was a member of a powerful and groomed triangular consisting of Prof. Dr. Abdur Rehman TI and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rafiq Khan whose enjoyed the glory of their services as Vice Chancellor of this great alma mater.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Hafiz Abdul Qayyum told though his friendship with late Muhammad Arshad Ch was full of differences, love, affection and respect as well. He revealed that each UAF delegation to India used to get respect and highest protocol due to this historical and great alma matter.
Khawaja Tariq Aziz Olympian and member UAF selection board told that late UAF VC Dr. Ghulam Rasool Ch and Muhammad Arshad Ch encouraged him to join university service. He revealed that late Muhammad Arshad Chaudhry was seasoned personality due to his ample experience in dealing with the administrative and financial matters. Khawaja Tariq Aziz told that there were various beneficiaries of late Arshad Chaudhry due to his generous support rendered for the humanity.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq Dean, Faculty of Agriculture told that late Prof. Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Khan rendered his meritorious services to University as four time dean faculty of agriculture, chairman PBG for 14 years, Director Research, Director Water Management, member Punjab Cotton Group and CCRI. He produced about 20 PhDs, 95 M.Sc. (Hons.) and his 66 research papers were published in international peer review journals of national and internal repute.
Prof. Dr. Itikhtar Hussain president ASA, paid rich tribute to late Prof Dr. Muhammad Siddique and said that the later professor was the pioneer of bringing various scholarships in the field of poultry to the talented students. Dr. Iftikhar Hussain told that the late professor supervised 6 PhDs, 40 M.Sc. and published about 125 research papers inland and abroad journals.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Dean, Faculty of Agri. Engg. & Tech. while recalling his memories with late Prof. Dr. Abdur Rehman Tahir said that the late doctor was a person of down to earth and always earned his success on merit and practiced merit in all of his affairs.
Prof. Dr. M. Anwar-ul-Hasan, Director Institute of Soil & Environmental Sciences commemorated the services of later Prof. Dr. Rehmatullah in soil science in general and plant nutrition in particular. He told that late professor served Oman, NARC, published 58 research papers in international journals and 125 in local HEC recognized scientific journals. Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad Khan, Dr. Khalid Mehmood Shauq, Mr. Jamal also spoke on the occasion. Later Prof. Dr. M. Younis Dean Faculty of Animal Husbandry offered Fateha for the aforesaid departed souls. |
