University of Agriculture Faisalabad is a collection of outstanding and best brains whose contributions got recognitions inland and abroad. The academia should mobilize and sell their brains globally so as to grab funds and transform their ideas into reality to ease the human life. The prevailing unrest among some of the faculty members due to a high court decision will be over till the first week of February. This was stated by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan while addressing the oath taking ceremony of ASA-2010 here at Old Senate Hall on Friday morning.

Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan revealed that during the last year, UAF administration filled more than 100 faculty positions and vowed to advertise the vacant positions of Professors and Associate Professors shortly “Higher Education Commission has incentivesed the talented and forward looking academia by offering higher pay package under Tenure Track System, BPS is no more future so people need to transform themselves into Tenure Track System” he added. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan told UAF is producing 2 PhDs in a week and more than 100 M.Sc./M. Phil graduates every month which is only possible due to a robust and live faculty. Dr. Khan said UAF has a progressive agenda for 2010 and it has its effective voice in Planning Commission of Pakistan as it is present in three working groups busy in preparation of 10 five year plan.



Earlier speaking on the occasion, newly elected president of ASA-2010 Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Hussain put some issues of urgent nature before the Vice Chancellor and asked for their early resolve. He urged the UAF administration to enable ASA for establishment of a proper office of the association. Outgoing president Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad Chatha wrapped up achievements of his tenure and said that his cabinet was successful in getting recruitments of more than 100 faculty members of junior cadre and vigorously pursed the case of advertisement having vacant positions of professors and associate professors so as to boost the faculty moral. He termed the provision of hardship allowance to DG Khan Campus and earmarking of Rs. 8.00 million for establishment of a lady dispensary at campus a significant achievement of the outgoing cabinet.

Later the Vice Chancellor took oath to the newly elected cabinet of ASA-2010. The new office bearers are Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Hussain President, Dr. Ehsan Khaliq Vice President-1, Dr. Zia ur Rehman Vice President-II, Dr. Masood Sadiq Butt Secretary, Dr. Nadeem Akbar Treasurer, Mr. Ahmad Mateen Joint Secretary, and counselors. A large number of Deans/Directors/Chairmen, Registrar Ch. Muhammad Hussain, and faculty members participated in the function. Outgoing Secretary Dr. Khalid Mushtaq and Secretary Dr. Masood Sadiq Butt conducted the program.
