UAF has become a role model for rest of the country’s universities due its strong academic and research programs. The previous year was full of achievements and international recognition as it come up with the slogan “real community builder”. This was stated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan while addressing the academic staff here at Iqbal Auditorium to mark the New Year targets and recall the salient success stories of 2009.

Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan told that UAF has strengthened its research and academic ties with US, Australian, German, and French universities whose open their doors with numerous scholarships and complete waving off the admission and tuition fee for UAF. Dr. Khan revealed that during his recent visit to US along with VCs of 11 agricultural universities, his idea of entrepreneurship got highest recognition and a consensus was build to chalk out various ways and means for development and expansion of entrepreneurial business. He informed that last year UAF had organized various programs which were largely attended by French, German, Australian, American dignitaries which laid down a firm foundation for its future endeavors. Dr. Khan was of the view that UAF took the lead to establish a pressure group of 11 Ag-universities to urge the federal government to get our due share and to change its budgeting formula of the universities "consequently, our voice was heard and federal government earmarked Rs. 2.00 billion for R&D in agriculture" he added. While applauding the efforts of academic staff, he said “we have talent and competence to deal with emerging challenges and all strength was due to our faculty".


Dr. Khan told that government was on way to finalize its 10th five year plan and our recommendations were on the card to integrate education, research and extension under one umbrella. He said that UAF was vigorously working on faculty development programs with the help of various funding agencies and told that at the end of last financial year UAF remained at top with its more than 70 faculty members were busy in pursuance of their higher professional destinations in advanced countries. He urged the UAF academic wing to capitalize the opportunities offered by international organizations. He told that UAF administration not only considering merit but used to practice it on all stages. He vowed that faculty poisons would soon be advertised in the national press and till the mid of summer, and potential people will be appointed on merit.

Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan emphasized the younger faculty to come forward and get benefit from the overseas scholarships so as to enable themselves with modern tools and techniques in their respective domains. Dr. Khan informed that academic staff the chief executive of the province Mian Shahbaz Sharif allocated at special grant of Rs. 50 million for UAF and asked the University to come up with workable recommendations to re-enter into lyallpur modal of agriculture which was divided into three independent components. Later, the house offered Fatiha for the departure soul of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Siddique Ex-Dean Faculty of Vety Science who died last night.
