Pakistan Army has been sacrificing their lives in order to ensure the solidarity and security of the Nation whereas Agricultural Scientists are utilizing their potential for the assurance of food security of Pakistan. This was stated by the Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Vice Chancellor UAF while delivering his presidential address on the eve of Flag Hoisting ceremony in order to celebrate the 62nd Independence Anniversary of the Country at Iqbal Auditorium on Friday.

Dr. Iqrar Ahamd Khan maintained that UAF Alumnus is striving for bringing another Green Revolution in the shape of transgenic agriculture and bio-technology. He said that Global warming and climatically changing scenario of Agri-Ecological zones are new milestones to be explored with innovative approaches.



Dr. Khan reiterated that increasing population and decreasing land and water resources have diverted our focus towards precession agriculture and water conservation. He added that UAF is providing efficient skilled manpower to the Country in the field of Livestock and agriculture. He maintained that keeping in view meeting the emerging challenges UAF has introduced new degree programs in Bio Technology, Agri. Business, Environmental Sciences, Microbiology and Entrepreneurship.

He revealed that in order to induct enthusiastic and committed human potential UAF has re introduced intermediate pre-agriculture certificate program after the break of 30 years. Dr. Iqrar A. Khan said that UAF has been securing maximum competitive research grants from various international and National funding agencies. He maintained that Pakistan’s ever first Technology Park is being launched at UAF Campus.

Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, earlier hoisted the National Flag outside the Administrative Block. A large number of Faculty members, Administrative Staff and other employees attended the National ceremony by showing their enthusiasm. The students of Lab. High School presented the National Anthem and National Songs during the celebrations.

Dr. Muhammad Jalal Arif, Convener Independence celebrations and Principal Officer Public Relations & Publication highlighted the details of series of events in order to observe Nationality and said that celebrations were started on August 13th with interesting sports events organized by Directorate of Sports. He added that after Fajar Prayer a thanks giving ceremony was held at Central Mosque in which Qari Muhammad Iqbal, Chairman Dept. of Islamiyat offered prayers for the solidarity of the country.
