Higher Education Commission, Islamabad on account of research publications appeared in peer-reviewed journals indexed by Thomson-Reuters, ISI web of knowledge during the 2007-08 of 124 public and private universities of the country has placed University of Agriculture Faisalabad with 252 and 310 research papers in 2007 and 2008 respectively at victory stand among the professional universities of the country and all public and private universities of the province.

While briefing the visiting associate dean of international programs, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, University of California Davis, US with deans and directors of the university here in new syndicate hall, UAF VC Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad with 409 and 544 research publications during 2007-08 ranked number one university of the country has extended its affiliation to various non teaching organizations like Pakistan Science Foundation, NIAB, NIBGE, Pakistan Atomic Commission, NARC etc which supplements its publications otherwise and if such affiliations is withdrawn then the situation will be different. He said that University of Karachi (276, 419) and Aga Khan University (186, 311) are the beneficiaries of special favour in this regards as their papers considered three times more in the publication. So on the basis of factual position, UAF is the number one university of the country.
Dr. Iqrar further revealed that UAF by virtue of its state of the art infrastructure facilities, conducive environment for teaching and research and more than 44000 trained manpower with 703 PhDs, winner of 1200 overseas scholarships out of 3500 from the national universities and out of 1200 PhD overseas scholarships for agricultural universities more than 700 were from UAF which is a clear testament of its quality and standard. He congratulated the UAF faculty for brining forward the institution at national and international level with their valued input. He called upon the faculty to fetch more funds by their novel research proposals from different national and international agencies. During the meeting matters relating to UAF and US Davis were brought under discussion.
Separately, addressing the participants of reception being organized in his honour at Staff Club, Prof. Dr. Jim Hill, Associate Dean for International Programs, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, UC Davis told that in October this year all VCs of Pakistani Agricultural Universities will visit UC Davis in order to examine the further ways and means for cooperation between UC Davis and its counterpart Pakistani institutions. The reception was attended by Commission Syed Tahir Hussain, DCO Saeed Iqbal Whallah and other members of district and university administration.
