Department of Zoology, Wildlife and Fisheries- Overview

The Department of Zoology, Wildlife and Fisheries is a student-centered learning community, meeting the changing needs of the country through teaching, research, service and technology development. The aim of the department is to identify various ways of strengthening the department's contribution to the University's overall mission of teaching, research and service. Diversified disciplines in Zoology promote the development of intellect and creativity through scholarship and service. Realizing this vision will result in a broad national reputation for excellence.
The Academic Staff comprises of three Professors, one Associate Professor, four Assistant Professors and two Lecturers. The Department offers study courses for M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. Zoology degree programs. The degree programs are partially based on thesis research.
The Department of Zoology, Wildlife and Fisheries has well-equipped fisheries research center, Fisheries Research Farms, developed with the exclusive purpose of enabling the department to undertake training of post-graduate students to meet the shortage of trained fisheries experts in the country. Presently, the Fisheries Research Farms is doing its role by providing teaching and research facilities to the students of M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. degree programs. The Zoological Museum of the Department, without doubt, is one of the best in the country.

The students after qualifying their degree programs are serving for prestigious institutions like Fisheries, Wildlife and Marine Fisheries departments and others as Nuclear Institute for Agriculture and Biology (NIAB), National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic engineering (NIBGE), Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), Banks, NGOs, Universities and Educational Departments of Federal and Provincial government.
