Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics - Educational Programs

Currently Department is offering two major degrees:
1. B.Sc.(Hons) 4 years, M.Sc.(Hons) 2 years and Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Genetics
2. B.Sc.(Hons) 4 years and M.Sc.(Hons) 2 years in Seed Science and Technology

Undergraduate
Degree:  1- B.Sc. (Hons) Agri Plant Breeding and Genetics
2- B.Sc. (Hons) Agri Seed Science and Technolgoy

Entry Requirements:  Entry to the major is on the basis of completion of first four semesters of common scheme of studies, exercise of the Major option, CGPA and availability of the seats in the department.

Total Semesters: Eight semesters each of 19 weeks. Not less than eight semesters and more than twelve semesters each of 19 weeks

Postgraduate
Degree:  1- M.Sc. (Hons) Agri Plant Breeding and Genetics
2- M.Sc. (Hons) Agri Seed Science and Technology

Entry Requirements: 1) B.Sc. (Hons) Agri in Plant Breeding and Genetics for M.Sc. PBG
2) B.Sc. (Hons) Agri Seed Science and Technology for M.Sc. SST

Total Semesters: Not less than four semesters and more than eight semesters each of 19 weeks

Ph.D
Degree: Ph.D. Plant Breeding and Genetics

Entry requirements: M.Sc. (Hons) Agri. in Plant Breeding and Genetics
Total Semesters: Not less than four semesters and more than ten semester each of 19 weeks

Admission requirements and prerequisites in bachelor's degree programs are carried out by Office of Dean Faculty of Agriculture. In the four years degree program after 2 years (4 semester) students can slect this major in any of the two subject categories by choice following the merit list displayed by the Dean's office according to the demanded seats and CGPA of students. Post-graduate and Ph.D. admissions are carried by Director Graduate Studies as per rule. Number of seats for post-graduate and Ph.D. degrees are indicated by the department according to the available faculty and resources.
