Research Intersts: Develop and formulate crop, soil and fertilizer management technologies that conserve or enhance soil nutrient reserves and utilize nutrients within soil-plant systems effectively and efficiently, maintain optimum economic sustainable crop productivity and minimize damage to the environment. This is achieved by hunting projects and graduate and postgraduate research studies whereby ultimate goals of efficient nutrient use are obtained by using integrated nutrient management strategies to maximize nutrient use efficiency and economic benefits with minimum nutrient loss and pollution to the environment. Develop novel techniques/management practices and products to improve yield and quality of agronomic, vegetables, fruits and ornamental crops. • Provide consultancy services at national and international level to design and develop techniques for efficient use of nutrients, water, soil and other waste resources.

Phytoremediation of petroleum contaminated soils in association with bacteria having ACC-deaminase enzyme. Plant-microbe-growth regulator interactions to improve the plant growth and remediation process in metal contaminated soils.

Research Intersts: The main focus of his research work has been the selection and characterization of crop genotypes against salinity, sodicity, drought and waterlogging. He has explored genetic variation in different plant species including wheat, maize, cotton, barley, brassica, and different trees and grasses.

Research Intersts: • The environmental geochemistry of arsenic and heavy metals – Exploring the previously unresolved coupling interactions and sorption mechanisms of arsenic with iron monosulfide minerals (mackinawite; FeS); how phosphate and other competing ions influence the sorption behavior of arsenic on the surface FeS? • Speciation and bioavailability of arsenic and heavy metals in soils, sediments, plant and water • Phytoremediation of arsenic and heavy metal contaminated soils – exploiting the potential of local plant species for the phytoextraction of arsenic and heavy metals • Low-cost and environmental friendly solution for the remediation of arsenic and heavy metals from contaminated water, using biosorbents and biochar • Environmental monitoring of heavy metal(loid)s in soil and water using geostatistics • Chemometrics and mid-infrared spectroscopy for predicting arsenic and heavy metals in soil
Research Intersts: My area of interest is mineral nutrition of plants especially focusing on increasing Zinc content in crop plants to combat micronutrient malnutrition in human beings. Moreover, I am also interested in the identification of mechanisms responsible for differential nutrient use efficiencies in crop plants. Besides this I also work on the role of mineral nutrients in alleviating drought stress in plants.
