It is prerequisite to increase plantation net to save environment from different hazards including climate changes. This was stated by University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar while planting a tree at the Faculty of Sciences, UAF.
The Vice Chancellor said that the forest net in the country is only four percent compared to international standards of 25 percent, provoking different complications including climate changes, and increasing pollution etc . He said that there is a need to create awareness among people about planting trees and end deforestation. He stressed upon the need to take the tangible steps with collective efforts on the part of all stakeholders. He said that UAF was producing skilled manpower. It is a lush green area and we are making it more greenish. He said if we would not pay the attention to environment, the issue of climate changes will worsen in the years to come. He also added: “the UAF is the greenish campus. As someone enters the campus, he feels 2-3C reduction in temperature. The UAF is ranked as 9th best university across the globe as per UI Green metric ranking”. He said that there were numerous benefits of planting trees, from health to environmental impact, economics and even psychological effects. He said planting trees helped surroundings improves, and reduce pollution . He was flanked by Chairman Botany Dr Mumtaz Hussain, Chairman Department of Bio Chemistry Dr Khalil-ur-Rehman and Controller Examination Dr Abdul Wahid, Chairman Forestry Range Management Department Dr Tahir Sidddique, Chairman Zoology Dr Hammad Ahmad, Dr Muhammad Asif, Dr Haroon Zaman, Dr Mateen, Dr Naureen and other notables.
