Knowledge-based economy, skilled manpower and quality education are imperative to compete with the rest of world, said University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar.
He addressed inaugural session of training workshop held for 91 teaching assistants at Video Conference Room, UAF. He said that quality education, and skilled manpower would pave the way for making development and prosperity. He said that the country was blessed with the tremendous talents. There is a need to tap the potential by honing the skills of the students. He added that as many as 60 million people are living below the poverty line in the country . The situation demands beefed up efforts on the part of researchers, society, and others stakeholders to address the issue at the national level. He said that the skilled manpower and quality education will help alleviate the poverty from the country. He said people should come forward with innovative ideas as an idea can change your life. He said that it is imperative to uplift the sector with the modern trends to address the unemployment. He lauded the steps being taken on the part of the government for the development of agricultural and educational sector. Dean Faculty of Agriculture Dr Muhammad Amjad said that the agriculture is the backbone of our economy, contributing 20 percent to Gross Domestic Product. He said that we have to prepare the manpower able to fight the challenges of the modern era. Director Academics Dr Ghulam Murtaza said that there are 91 teaching assistance who are students of PhD and MPhil being given training. He said that UAF was making all-out efforts to produce skilled manpower and to conduct demand driven researches that will bring the tangible result. He said that no nation can make development without the quality education and skilled manpower. Director Quality Enhancement Dr Abdul Khaliq, Executive Director Endowment Fund Dr Jaffar Jaskani, Dr Ayesha and Director Information Technology Dr Imran Mumtaz also spoke on the occasion.
