The University of Agriculture has emerged as best university in area of research in Pakistan as per the Times Higher Education Brics and Emerging Economies Ranking 2017.
It was revealed by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan while addressing deans committee. The UAF has secured 203 positions worldwide and 4th in Pakistan in the overall ranking in which universities from more than 50 countries were taken for evaluation. Giving details, the UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said in the area of research under the said ranking, the UAF has bagged 12.2 points whereas Bahauddin Zakariya University got 10.1 points, and the University of Karachi stood third with 8.3 points. In the overall ranking in Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam University got the first position with 24.2 points, Comsats second 23.7 points, National University of Sciences and Technology 22.4 points, University of Agriculture Faisalabad 17.3-19.8 points, whereas Bahauddin Zakariya University, University of Karachi and the University of Lahore with 13.7-17.2 points. He said that in the National Taiwan University ranking , the University has emerged 72nd in world in the agricultural sciences and 12 in Asia pacific. The QS ranking has also placed the UAF as 86th best university of the globe. He added that no other university of the country has distinction of finding place in in top 100 universities in any category. Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2016-2017 list the 980 top universities in the world.
