He along with Akhuwat Chairman Dr Amjad Saqib and UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan visited the UAF nutrition and food exhibition, agriculture expo and fancy birds show which are the part of ongoing spring festival celebrations. He said that Faisalabad has a prominent position in the field of agricultural sciences. He said that adoption of modern trends in agriculture profitable is a prerequisite for the development of the country and ensure the food for the ever-increasing population. He said that UAF spring festival had provided an opportunity for farmers, locals, policy makers and other stakeholders to sit together so that they can formulate strategies for solving the problems facing agriculture. He said that the agricultural scientists of this city have given immense contributions for the development of agriculture and said that he expects their enhanced role in tackling the challenges facing agriculture. He lauded the initiates of UAF for the development of the agriculture sector, UAF landscaping, and home gardening project.
Dr Amjad Saqib said that teachers are the real heroes who work hard to hone the skills of the students enabling them to server the nation and the country. He said that by providing interest-free loans, Akhuwat mission is to empower the poor to construct their own out of poverty in a self-determined and sustained manner. He said that everyone has to play his own role to serve the humanity. He stressed upon the need to help those who want to do something but due to financial constraints, they can’t fulfill their dreams.
UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that our yield per acre was very low due to traditional method of farming community. If the recommendations of agricultural scientists are followed, the production can be doubled. He said that the production of a progressive farmer is double that of an ordinary farmer and if the common farmer also adopts modern trends, the increase in production would usher in a bright chapter of agricultural prosperity. Dean Food Sciences Dr Masood Sadiq Butt said that malnutrition crisis are hampering the development process of the country and we need to change our lifestyle and eating habit to address the issue.
Principal Officer PRP Prof Dr Jalal Arif said that UAF was taking all possible measures to reach out to the farming community to increase per acre production by promoting latest agri techniques and tangible research. Principal Officer Estate Management Dr Qamar Bilal said that the festival provides an ample opportunity to researchers, industry and farming community to work together for uplift of the sector. Dr Fawad Ahmad said that fancy bird shows are the permanent feature of the UAF festivals to promote the sector. Director Academic Dr Babar Shahbaz said that UAF was equipped with skilled and professional faculty that are tuning all possible stones to steer the country out from the agricultural crisis.
Moreover, UAF has opened three-day Inter-Hostel sports Gala as part of ongoing spring festival 2022. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan inaugurated the gala. Whereas, Chief Hall Warden Dr. Jaffar Jaskani, Former Chief Hall Wardens Dr. Amjad Aulakh and Dr. Zafar Qureshi; Dr. Zahid Atta Cheema, Chairman Sports Board Dr.Ahmad Sattar, Principal Officer Estate management Dr. Qamar Bilal and other notables also participated at the sports inaugural ceremony. The Sports Gala features badminton, tug of war, arm-wrestling, cricket, volley ball, athletics and others.
